“We have to function as a living library:

An Archival Movement

Eritrean Archives is an uninterrupted archival movement, a people’s archive dedicated to preserving the cultural memories and historical testimonies of Eritrea and its global diaspora. A movement rooted in plurality, Eritrean Archives is a pledge towards reclamation, celebrating the vibrancy, resilience, and elasticity of Eritrea’s kaleidoscopic progressions.

Eritrean Archives emerged from the urgent need to make Eritrean narratives accessible while challenging forms of historical erasure.

Our mission is to honor, amplify, and continuously restore the mosaic layering of Eritrean memories. As a living, community-driven project, Eritrean Archives is designed to be ever-evolving, reflective of our collective participation, and a means to solidify the dynamic nature of memory itself.
